Layering in Winter: 4 Tips For Plus Size Layering
With the crisp autumn weather fast approaching chilly winter temperatures, it’s time to start thinking about layering! But as plus size women, it can sometimes be difficult to layer correctly to avoid looking shapeless and hiding our curves! So, here are the Tia-Tia top tips for plus size layering this winter.
1. Layer with light fabrics
It’s easy to quickly become warm when wearing layers, and nobody wants to be hot and uncomfortable!
To avoid overheating when wearing layers, make sure to wear light, breathable fabrics like cotton, rayon, linen or bamboo. This will allow a natural air flow between layers and will stop you from becoming too hot.
And it’s far easier to remove some layers as you warm up on blustery winter days out than to wear one thick item with not much underneath!
Layering with light fabrics also avoids adding too much bulk and drowning out your beautiful curves in lots of fabric! Bamboo can be a great option for plus size layering as although it is a thin fabric, it will also keep you nice and warm.
2. Consider your silhouette
Plus size layering can be particularly difficult, because when done incorrectly, it adds bulk, covers curves, and lead to a shapeless appearance! And you should be celebrating your curves! Not hiding them.
When layering, make sure you consider your outline or silhouette. You want to accentuate your curves with layers. Think about cinching your waist with a belt or a long jacket with a waist tie, or tucking in jumpers or pullovers. This will highlight your hips and waistline, making sure your shape isn’t lost.
Of course, this doesn’t mean that everything you wear should be fitted. But avoid extremely baggy or oversized layers to keep your shape in tact.
3. Always lengthen

4. Don’t avoid fitted clothes
Layers don’t have to cover up your body entirely! You can actually use layers to accentuate your shape rather than hide it.
